7: About Light
By Fran Caffey Sandin
“Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my
path” (Psalm 119: 105 NASB)
In the 1800’s, a monk named Walter in Belgium placed
a candle on top of each one of his well-worn leather shoes.
Then with the candles lighted, he could overcome the darkness
of the cold stone abbey one step at a time.
Perhaps you are in a set of dark circumstances now—either
something you cannot control or habits that you cannot break.
You may just feel lonely and empty inside. Just as Walter
used the candles to light his way, you can find your spiritual
way.
Do you need light for your soul today? Relying on God for
assistance is like reaching for a lamp in the darkness. As
morning light dispels the dark night, the Word of God exposes
darkness in our hearts and illumines the truth about a Heavenly
Father who cares.
Darkness is the absence of light. But since God is light,
then in Him there is no darkness at all.
